We have various types of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). They are used depending on purposes. Since all systems are sensitive to vibrations, some of them are on an anti-vibration table and in a soundproof room.

This system can be cooled down to 4.2K by liquid He and to 2.6K by pumping. 11T (out-of-plane) or 2T (out-of-plane) and 1T (in-plane) magnetic fields can be applied.
We are also trying to combine with scanning tunneling potentiometry and microwave.

This STM (Omicron) is operated in room temperature, which also works as FM-AFM. We work on scanning tunneling potentiometry using this system.

This system was built in joint project with synchrotron radiation facility. STM image can be obtained irradiated with
synchrotron radiation. We are interested in elements-resolved STM study.

High vacuum AFM/STM/Scanning Tunneling Potentiometer (Shimadzu-based home built)

This system works as contact and dynamic mode AFM in high vacuum (not ultrahigh vacuum).
